Why Study In Netherlands?

WHY STUDY IN NETHERLANDS

Netherlands mostly known as Holland shares it’s land borders with Germany and Belgium which is the part of main land Europe. It is a non native English speaking country. They do  promote the courses in English. Almost all subjects are taught in English and Dutch.

Following is the list of some of the courses offered by universities in Netherlands :-

  • Bachelors Degree (BA, BSc, BEng): 3-4 Years
  • Masters Degree (MA, MSc, M Eng): 1-2 Years
  • PhD: 4 Years
  • Bachelors: Available at Research Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences
  • Masters: Available at all Institution types
  • PhDs: Available only at Research Universities.

                        The higher education system depends primarily on three different types of institutions with its special features. These are research universities, applied universities and institution for international education.  Bachelor degrees can be studied at research education universities and applied sciences. Similarly, masters can be studied at all institutions offering masters course.

                        Holland is very developed and advanced in higher studies with four universities in top position. Those institutions are university of Amsterdam, Leiden University, Utrecht University and Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Visa.

            First of all you will need visa called provisional residence permit. As most courses and degrees run for more than one year most international students will require an entry visa called a Provisional Residence Permit or Machtiging tot Voorlopig Verblijf (MVV) in Dutch. Your MVV will allow you entry into the country for a six month period and once in the country you will need to apply for a Residence Permit.

A Provisional Residence Permit (MVV) will only be granted if following conditions are fulfilled:

  • You must have a valid passport.
  • All required fees have been paid.
  • You have a letter from your host University stating you have or will be enrolling.

                      Knowledge of English language is required before you can study at degree level in Holland and this has to be proved when applying for your course by showing the results of an accepted English Language test. i.e. 6.0 IELTS or TOEFL 550 (Paper Based), 213 score is required.

                     Tution cost is low and reliable than other countries. Education is very good, high quality education with well educated teaching staff.

                    The academic staff is expected to be active in anything and everything also they are up to mark when it comes to research and development.
